Do you often tell yourself: "I will only be truly happy when I reach X, Y & Z"?

Do you hold off enjoying yourself until you reach your next big goal?


We often think we can only be truly happy once we attain our next big goal or reach the next milestone in life, such as when we have X amount of money, when we land a job or when we finish the next project...


But I'm guessing most of us want to feel happy as much of the time as possible, right?

So don't wait to allow yourself to be happy. You can choose to be happy right now and anytime!


Life's short, so give yourself permission to enjoy life whenever you can!


Here are some tips you can immediately incorporate in your life to help you choose to be happy right away!


💡Appreciate the little sparks of joy in your daily life.


There is so much beauty and moments of joy in our daily life. All you need to do is to take some time to pay attention and capture those moments.


For example, take a moment to watch the sunset, close your eyes and let yourself bath in the warmth of the sun; look up at the sky and absorb the fluffy clouds floating on the blue sky on a sunny day; watch the leaves as they dance in the air as they fall...


In short, remind yourself to be fascinated by the world like a child who experiences everything for the first time or like 22 (in Joel's body) in Soul who is awestruck by everything he sees on his first day on Earth.

💡Celebrate every step you take towards your goal.


If you wait to be happy only until the moment you have achieved your next goal, you would have missed out on so many opportunities to be happy!


Instead of waiting to celebrate when you reach the goal, allow yourself to celebrate each step you take towards it! You don't have to throw a party and make fireworks, but it is perfectly feasible to celebrate by making yourself a special meal or buying yourself a small treat. The point is to do something extra-ordinary as a symbol of celebration!


For example, when you are searching for a job, don't wait until you get a job to truly allow yourself to celebrate and be happy. How about giving yourself a treat every time you get a call from a recruiter and finish an interview?


💡Create a "List of Pure Joy".


Make a list of all the everyday activities you simply enjoy doing. Whenever you feel a lack of joy, just go back to this list and pick one that you could do right away!
