5 Benefits of Finding Your Mission In Life

Updated: Jul 15, 2022

What is your mission in life?

Your mission describes your reason for being and what you can contribute to making the world a better place.

Since your mission defines what you most want to do in life, it is not surprising that having a mission and living in a way that aligns with it will ensure you will truly be happy in life.

For example, my personal mission is:

To improve people's mental well-being and to help people thrive in life by sharing knowledge and advice from what I learned from psychology and personal experiences.

In fact, I had this mission of improving others' mental well-being all the way back in my high school. This made me decide to pursue the study of psychology.

One way I am living my mission nowadays is by creating content like this blog post. 😊

Since the birth of my mission, I have experienced the countless benefits of living my mission in my daily life and I summarize them below:

💡You will be constantly motivated.

Your mission is not something that you can easily achieve. It is something that requires constant work, it is your reason for being and your way of life.

So your mission will constantly keep you motivated to take action each day that aligns with your mission. This is because the nature of taking action towards your mission is by itself rewarding - it is what gives you meaning and value in your daily life.

💡You will never feel bored.

Since your mission requires constant work, you will rarely find yourself feeling bored or lost. Whenever you have some down time and need something to do, you will naturally orient towards tasks that fulfill your mission.

💡You will find it easier to make decisions.

Your mission is your light that will guide you through life and help you find the way. When you are faced with two paths, you will simply choose the one that aligns the most with your mission.

💡You will become more resilient.

When you are faced with difficulties, your mission will push you forward and keep you going. You will see difficulties as merely challenges to overcome as you work towards your mission.

💡You will feel a sense of belonging.

When you let the world know your mission, you will attract people who share similar missions. Soon you will find a community of people by your side. You will establish strong social connections and feel a great sense of belonging.

Ultimately, I think having a clear mission in your life and living by your mission are the key ingredients of a truly successful and happy life.

I hope you can also find your mission and live your mission in daily life!

Take Action!

If you already have a mission, make sure to write it down/print it and put it somewhere visible to you, so you are reminded of your mission everyday.

If you need help finding your mission, here are some questions to get you started:

  • What are the causes that you care about the most?

  • What change do you want to see in this world?

  • How can you contribute to this change in your daily life?
